Science Channels

Smarter Every Day is a science and engineering channel for all ages. My kids were very impressed that Destin Sandlin is a Christian who has created unusual experiments that teaches physics while pushing the boundaries of engineering. This will be an amazing kid-friendly supplement to your science curriculum.

Mark Rober studied mechanical engineering, worked for NASA and Apple as an engineer, and has launched his own successful YouTube channel sharing stem, engineering, and science videos. His method of presenting science is unlike most. He uses everyday language, tasks, and methods to engage and entertain. His ability to connect with my kids on their level without talking down is amazing. He also offers a 30-day engineering course that teaches his process for thinking, designing, and executing his projects. His videos are for all ages and are a must have, in my opinion, to supplement your science curriculum.

Fun Science Demos is an absolute must have supplement for any science curriculum. The creators have done an amazing job of demonstrating science experiments found in most of the current science curriculum being used. One of the things that I have struggle with is demos that are successful. Fun Science Demos has changed that by doing all the work that I have not been able to do on my own. The videos are relatively short, easy to understand, and most of the time, easy to replicate.

Nature at Your Door Frank Taylor is one of my favorite YouTube Channels. The creator and host Frank Taylor is an amazing educator who has devoted his retirement years to exploring, recording, and sharing nature with the world. Frank has spent 40+ years as a biology teacher so educating kids in an exciting way is just his thing. He speaks to all ages and levels in such a fun and calm manner. His goal is to “engage children and families in exploring the world of nature just outside their door.” I have to say that Frank accomplishes this and more. He is the real deal!

Brave Wilderness is touted as a “one stop connection to a wild world of adventure and amazing up close animal encounters!” Many may have seen Coyote Peterson, one of three hosts, before. He is somewhat of a daredevil in that he goes to remote places, looking for some of the most venomous creatures in the hopes of researching, exploring, and demonstrating the effects of the venom. We have been following for years and I have to say I have cringed many times while watching Coyote Peterson writhe in pain as he endures the venom of various creatures. As entertaining as that can be, the videos are very informative and presented in a way for all to enjoy.

Science Max is another one that replicates every day science experiments on a giant scale. The host Phil does an amazing job of explaining and demonstrating various experiments so that the viewers can understand. He uses costumes, silly antics, and graphics to drive home his points. I would say that this is more for elementary grades, but middle school might find him entertaining as well.

The Action Lab is a really fun channel. The narrator uses each video to answer the "What would happen if..." question he has about the world and everyday objects. His enthusiasm for experimenting is so much fun to watch. I believe every age will enjoy these videos.

Science Bob is just a joy to watch. He has so much fun sharing and demonstrating his experiments. He speaks in simple terms so that all ages can understand and most of his experiments can be reproduced at home. He does do some large-scale demos, but those are mostly at his talk show appearances. I highly recommend adding this channel to your favorites.
